About Sara-Mai Conway

Sara-Mai Conway is a writer, yoga and meditation instructor living and working in Baja California Sur, Mexico. She teaches donation-based community classes in her tiny, off-grid town on the Pacific Coast and is a regular contributor to Mindworks.

Sara-Mai found yoga in 2006 when looking for new ways to cross-train as a competitive rower. At first, she thought yoga was merely a physical practice. When she needed it most, however, it became much more, inspiring her to dive into Buddhist practice.

Sara-Mai’s writing and teachings are informed by her advanced studies in philosophy and her personal meditation practice, which is rooted in the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Sara-Mai is a dual-degree graduate of Tufts University (Biology and Fine Arts). She received her Master’s Degree in 2004 from the University of San Francisco.

Outside of work, she can be found surfing and adventuring throughout Mexico and beyond with her husband and their two dogs.
